I do hope these poor little dears were enjoying themselves but they certainly don’t look happy while a silhouettist with paper and scissors is recreating each one’s profile.
A difficult theme to relate to so I will choose a happy occasion of a shared brother and sister birthday party in 1969 where the central adult is the marvellous ZIM the magician, illusionist supreme !
For the birthday girl a scarf and a collapsing rod.
And for the birthday boy a rabbit and a pigeon out of the hat, and look it’s alive
All watched by an admiring audience.
Followed by games and food.
A very decorous party.
More interpretations of this week’s Sepia Saturday theme can of course be found in Sepia Saturday’s links.
Decorous indeed! No racing about at your house, from the look of those gentle and appreciative youg people.

Having a real magician at a birthday party would make it hard to go back to Pin the Tail on the Donkey. What did they do the next year?

Beautiful photos. I wonder where ZIM the magician is now and what his story was.

Shazzam! A delightful set. I like the variety of disbelief in the children’s expressions.

You are quite right, I hadn’t noticed it until you pointed it out – they do look miserable don’t they. Your photographs are far more uplifting.

Parties for our children were always chaotic. But then there was no ZIM.

That must have been an amazing birthday for both of you! I remember how I stunned I was when I saw my first magician at the circus.
